We trust in you

Lord of lords and God above all gods, your name deserves praise from every heart and tongue. You are worthy, O heavenly Father, to receive worship and fear and blessing from every person, for you created us and all that the universe contains.

Look down upon us in mercy. Have pity on our struggles. Pour upon us your grace. Make us powerful in our work of sharing the message of salvation. We are few in number, but make us strong in faith. Cause the Word to multiply in this city.

Strength the hearts of those who are weak here. Enliven the slow to act. Break out among us the inexpressible joy of your salvation.

Start all this with and in me. Let the brethren grow beyond what I am able to provide. Keep the gospel from being limited by my limitations.

May the Lord Jesus fill our vision. Let the Holy Spirit empower our service. May his revelation to us be constantly on our tongues. Help us to trust in your eternal purpose.

Father, we trust in you. We believe you hear and answer our prayers.

I have confidence in your promise. I will work till Jesus comes, even if I see no fruit from my labors, for in your time you will produce the good results of the Word. Let many be saved. Save me according to your mercy.

This age is passing away

Our blessed Father in heaven, forgive our sins. Keep us from sinning. Help us overcome temptation. We rejoice in the remission of all our transgressions. Help us to live worthily of the gospel. We want to be righteous people. The gift of Christ’s sacrifice is precious to us. Praise to you for your grace.

Let our souls rest in you. Keep the worries of the world at bay. Remind us that you are our guarantee and protection of security in this world. Show us the ephemeral nature of this age. It is passing away. All that it contains will be destroyed. So we want to trust in you and find our peace in your Son.

We pray for our governing authorities. May they rule fairly. Let us live in peace and quietness. May our society be more just. We are grateful for the justice of the final day and for the mercy you extend to us. In the present, we ask that we may live in security and confidence, thanks to the proper actions of government.

Build up your church. Let us place upon it its proper value. Let us see in it the expression of your rule. Help us to dedicate ourselves to your people. Make the body of Christ a priority for us. Show us ways to do good, especially to those of the family of faith. Thank you for giving us a loving community of saints, among whom we may grow, learn to serve, and develop our hope.

Give us a word of encouragement to speak to the tired and weary. Show us how to admonish and correct with love and tenderness. Teach us to love sincerely and earnestly. Restore in us your image, in Christ, that we might, with patience and strength, be people who care and share. Above all, help us to share the message of salvation.

May you be glorified among us and in the world, as we live by the power of your Spirit and walk in the ways of your commandment.

I will trust you all the day long

Do I believe in you, O Lord?
Yes, I believe! I do and will.
Help me in my unbelief!
I will trust you all the day long.
Let not my needs overwhelm me.
Keep enemies from overrunning me.
Preserve me for the Kingdom’s field.
Give me sight to see your glory.
Open my ears to hear the reading
Of the Scroll, for saving wisdom.
Make the present full of attention,
Senses aware of your Holy Spirit,
My tether the Cross where sins are nailed,
The gospel’s chains my desired freedom.
Yes, I believe your word, O God!
Descend, that I might rise with you.

Not a Single Thing

There’s not a single thing that you don’t know,
But every heart is open to your eyes;
I wonder about the who and where and how,
O God, you hear the baby’s hidden cries.

In you, Almighty, there’s no place for pride,
Jehovah, Father God, you simply are,
All else is finite, subject to time and tide,
From smallest creature to the largest star.

We thank you, Lord, for love and life to share,
We seek your grace, to move beyond our plane,
To rise from earth and breathe a purer air,
Give hope to live without our tears and pain.

We trust, O God, for every promise made,
We march with certain steps, our faith is sure,
In heart, let not our final destiny fade,
But heaven’s throne increase its high allure.

See me, O Father, bowed, humble and low,
Exalt me soon to Omega — be not slow.

We trust and wait

Heavenly Father, in your providence we see your love. We feel surrounded by it, because we know that you always act in our good interest and for the progress of the kingdom. Your hand orders all things with wisdom.

Often, we do not understand your ways of working in this world. We trust and wait in confidence to see the outcome of your working. Continue reading “We trust and wait”

God cares more

“The moment you begin to blindly beg and plead with God to move on your behalf is the moment for you to take a step back and ask yourself the following questions. Do you believe God is a good God and your Heavenly Father? Are you praying out of a place of fear that perhaps he isn’t listening or that he won’t answer you unless you prove to him how desperate you are? Calm your heart, remind yourself of the truth, and pray from a place of trust that God cares about your situation far more than you do. Pray with the sure knowledge that you are a child of God and that he knows your voice, and hears your weakest whisper.” — K. Walden.

I don’t know who the person is who said it, but the words ring true, especially that God cares far more than we do.

We believe

Lord, let me sensitive to the needs of those around me and to address those needs in a way that will be helpful to the needy. Keep me from being a burden to others. May my service truly serve others and glorify you.

May others see that you are a God who loves and cares for them. Make your character evident in your people.

Praise belongs to you and all creatures glorify you. The world and universe declare your greatness. Open our eyes to your magnificence. Draw us into your fellowship.

We trust you to guide us in the right way. We believe that you will protect and shield us from harm. We know that you have always kept your word and fulfilled your promise. Joy is ours because you are God.

No rush, no delay

God who neither rushes nor delays, you do all things in good time, at the right hour, just when action is needed. I wait upon you. I trust in you to come to my aid. Teach me patience. Try and purify me.

We praise you for you do not forget nor go back on your promises. We are grateful that you are faithful, because we trust your word.

Bless us, O Lord, that we might be a blessing to others. Give us wisdom to speak well, courage to speak up, love to speak unceasingly so that many might be saved.

A nightly prayer of trust

The night for sleep, the pillow for rest,
Upon your Word my bed is blessed;
Tomorrow will have its burdens to bear,
I give them to you in fervent prayer.

I’ve Said It

I trust you — There! I’ve said it!
The future — how I dread it!
I know not what’s ahead
Beyond my daily bread.

I need you — How I feel it!
The devil mustn’t steal it!
He says you’re not for real,
He’d rob me of my zeal.

I love you — I need to say it!
For yours, I cannot weigh it!
Your reign is why I pray,
To come the final day.
