Lord God and Father in Heaven, you know our hearts, our struggles, our joys, our desires. Transform us into the image of your Son. Create in us the soul designed for eternity. Give us wholeness, sincerity, integrity, and holiness in Christ. Make us men and women of faith. Carry us through our day with patience, longsuffering, wisdom, and love. Bring us through the pains of suffering with maturity and strength. Embolden us in your power.
Praise for every good thing that exists
God of heaven, you are to be praised for every good thing that exists, for you are good and in power bring blessing to our lives.
We thank you for your abundant mercy that spills over from us to others who also, like us, need your compassion.
Let not our failings hurt the progress of the gospel. Forgive us and place us in the work that pleases you.
Your will is to save as many as possible. Let this be our life objective.
Strengthen us against temptation, and give us joy in the task ahead.
We thank you for daily bread and daily life in Christ.
Blessed be the God and Savior of the saints across the earth! Let all creation raise its voice in praise to you!
You are my victory
Lord God, give me deep peace in spirit and strength in body. Let me not fear, but trust deeply in you to provide and protect. Redirect my vision outward, to the needs of others, to the salvation of many, to the edification of the saints, to the encouragement and love of family.
You are my light and my salvation. You give me confidence for my task. You secure my feet along the way. You are my victory.
So I seek your face. I desire your presence. I need your love. Without you I have nothing and I am nothing.
You are to be praised for pulling us all out of the fire, for giving us new life, for rescuing us from the evil one. You put us in a wide place, brought us to security, placed us where we may grow and serve and love.
You know, O Lord, our failures and fears. You see our weaknesses. Have pity on us, O God, that we, in following the Christ, might become like him. Perfect us for your eternal fellowship. Make us strong in our weakness. Bring forth fruit from our efforts to serve others. Bless us that we might be a blessing.
In you I rest, O Lord. In you I am comforted.
By Jesus Christ who brought us life, amen.
A seat for me
Even in my trials and deep distress,
You find a seat for me at Jesus’ table,
Humbly I come in mercy’s finest dress,
To eat and drink, O Lord, you make me able.
Three times and more I’d ask you to remove
These thorns that weigh upon my weakened shoulder;
But no! Your strength and sustenance I must prove,
Become a gazer of grace, a Cross beholder.
The Years of Toil and Tears
Wind, rain, and sun upon the earth
Wear away its surface, leach the soil,
But in return they bring a blessing of life.
The years of toil and tears, the constant trials
Break down the body, bow the heavy shoulders,
But strengthen a spirit whose daily might is God.
O Lord, in you may we discover the power of love.
Make Straight Our Way
The world’s awash in sin and wildness,
In torrents of lies and tattlers’ tales;
To truth, O Lord, and trusting in right,
We cling for life, clearly seeing
Beyond this earth, only eyes
For the Lord of hosts, the living Christ;
Give strength, O God, make straight our way,
And bring us through to a broad place.
The coming day
Lord, give me strength to greet
The coming day in peace;
Keep firm my moving feet,
Make all good fruit increase.
Remind me of your will,
On your light I rely,
To none may I do ill,
But good to passersby.
