The good news of Christ
Luke 24.13-17

Lord God who makes himself present among his people, thank you for coming in the person of Jesus Christ. I want to be in him. I want to live his life, having died his death. Prepare that eternal place for me, as I obey and welcome your habitation with me now.
Make today a day of joy and progress for the kingdom. Make this day a day of grace and love. Bring to us your power and truth.
Forgive and give us strength to resist temptation. Thank you for the victory in Christ. Let us keep our eyes on the resurrection, that makes all our efforts here worthwhile.
Father, I’m glad that many today are thinking of my risen Lord. May you use me to point them beyond a Sunday thought to a lifetime commitment of service to him as Savior of the world. Make my life an example of that commitment, with your words alive in my heart and sweet upon my tongue.
Lord, what Mary thought was a disaster when she found that the tomb was empty is for us the greatest success, the guarantee of our hope, the firstfruit of our own coming to life. Our tears flow, not from grief, but from joy, because our Savior lives, as does our ambition of seeing his face. Thank you for your power in him, your grace toward us.
