Help me assume responsibility

Most High God, help me to assume responsibility for my own personal spiritual life, rather than depend upon a mate, a parent, a preacher, a church authority, a program of thought, or a procedure of action.

Let no one or nothing stand between us as I seek your face.

I make Jesus as my only Lord, you, O God, my only God, the Spirit my only power.

At the same time, let me not forsake those means through which your grace appears: the written Word, constant prayer, and the body of Christ.

Hold me in this purpose, heavenly Father, that the power in me might be from your presence, that the love in me might reach the sacrifice of Christ, that your glory through me might cause others to confess the name of the Lord.
