A greater God you are
Than all our small concerns;
Your hand is bigger far
Than all our mental turns.
Look down upon our mound
Of selfish thoughts and toys;
Do our complaints astound
Your heart, our groans and ploys?
To us, O Lord, be kind,
And yet cause us to see
The plan that you designed
For all humanity.
Our mound of dross remove
To drown in watery deep;
May we your goodness prove
Ere angels droop and weep.
In us let Christ prevail,
That gloried fruit might grow;
May his good cause not fail
From our refusal to go.
