Teach me, O God, what it means to be a true and living sacrifice to you. Let me see in Jesus that complete offering of life to your will. I want to follow his example. Help me to be willing to go wherever that decision of sacrifice leads.
Your tender mercies are my motivation. Your love and kindness lead me to this spiritual service. Your goodness is my goad. Let your grace always occupy the space of my spiritual vision.
Surround me, O Lord, with people who will encourage me in this service of sacrifice, saints who will point to your holy purpose of salvation, to Jesus’ example of consecration, to the Spirit’s power to put this sacrifice into effect into my own life.
Thank you for the conviction that such a service brings, for the joy of dying to self, for the satisfaction in offering up the prayer that Jesus also made: “Here I am: I have come to do your will, O God.”
