What can we say, O God, that you do not already know? What thoughts or feelings can we put into words that you did not already discern within us?
Yet this process of prayer is for our mutual satisfaction, and for the realization of your will, and for the completion of your purpose, yes, for the development of our love together.
That an eternal and self-sufficient God desires such a relationship with us is beyond our comprehension, but we are glad of it, we rejoice in it, we find fulfillment as we draw near to you.
So we pour out, O Father, our sorrows and our joys, our fears and triumphs, our heartaches and contentment, our struggles and temptations and sins and shame, our moment and present and future and past.
We give you all of who we are, that you might make us into what we can be.
