We’re glad to have another day,
Another breath we don’t deserve;
Be present, Lord, keep the world at bay,
Let us, your people, like Jesus, serve.
The good news of Christ
We’re glad to have another day,
Another breath we don’t deserve;
Be present, Lord, keep the world at bay,
Let us, your people, like Jesus, serve.
Hear our prayers, O God, as we come into your presence with bright hopes on this fresh day.
Help us, dear heavenly Father, to be stronger in the way we make our stand for Christ in every facet of our lives, especially in the battle against the forces of evil.
Bless us with the fullness of your grace so that we will not shrink from doing good deeds of kindness that we learn from Christ our Lord. We pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
—David Binckley, Sr.
Dear LORD God, thank you for the amazing gift of life on this new day that glistens with fresh sounds of song birds, gentle winds and marvelous light from the sun. All these remind us of your tender loving care for all creation.
Give us a greater awareness of people who are lost without hope of eternal life. Help us to show them the way to receive the precious promises of this new covenant through obedience to the teachings of Christ the Lord.
We pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Keep all idolatry far from us, true and living God, that we may serve you alone.
Let us not bow to pressure from anyone to compromise our faith in you.
Let us bear the consequences of our commitment with joy for suffering for the Name.
Be glorified in us.
Whether you save us now or at the end, let us refuse to worship any other god.
For we belong to you, and we will not go back.
Riches are mine in Christ, from heaven they come,
So let me know the fullness of life in him,
No subject empty of God, no vacuous thought,
No act devoid of spiritual good and grace. Continue reading “Prayer: No thin and watery gruel, no meager truth”
Praise to you, O Lord, for your wisdom and for your eternal plan, to bring to earth your Son and offer him for our salvation, and also to include in your great mission of redemption those very creatures it is designed to rescue!
Frail and prone to failures, man is called to mission, to participate with you in the salvation of those still lost and far from you, so that your power is shown in their weakness.
For us, then, our God and Savior, make your grace sufficient.
Give us a new spirit, O God, willing to risk for you, with the joy of life in our hearts and grace always upon our lips.
Let complaint not mar our day. Continue reading “A bubble of hope”
Your people, rooted in eternity,
Beyond the physical, visible world can see;
By faith we measure walls and streets and gates,
A heavenly gift to lighten earthly weights. Continue reading “Let zeal enlarge our sight”
Not a byword, but life, O Lord, is your mercy toward us. Save us from destruction. Let your angel of death pass over us, for we show the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Your judgment is just, so we plead the justice of Christ. To him help us to be faithful so that we may be confident on the final day.
Our Father in Heaven, we measure days as good or bad, but we confess that, at the moment, we have no idea whether they contribute or not to our spiritual growth or to the progress of the gospel.
Let us call every day, therefore, a good day, a day in which you can and do work, a day in which we may be transported closer to our goal of greater knowledge of you and greater deeds in Christ.
