For edification, Lord, let all be done
Within the loving church, among the saints:
Uphold the weak, give strength to those who run,
Forgiveness of sin, relief for him who faints.
Let spiritual songs to one another teach,
Let careful readings of the Word inform,
To be disciples daily in deed and speech,
And look to you to protect us in the storm.
Our time together, Lord, assembled here,
In prayer and praise, in full confession,
Be glory to you, the God of comfort and cheer,
Until that day we gain our last possession.
