So many needs, much pain to bear

human-needs

So many needs, much pain to bear,
What lack of growth, what weights we feel,
Among us hide many hurts to heal—
How much we crave this hour of prayer!

We barely know, Lord, where to start,
To ask you bless, both far and near,
Oppressing foes and friends most dear,
Both those who warm and tear the heart.

In our sincere and urgent pleas,
May we recall your kindly ways,
May never lack our thanks and praise,
Whenever we bow upon our knees.
